— Monitoring of agricultural soil and water —
|
Monitoring of soil and water characteristics of agriculture is the second step of comprehensive soil and water management in the direction of sustainable agriculture and achieving food security, because it predicts changes resulting from the adoption of various policies, operations and managements of soil and water resources, and strengthens, controls or eliminates its shortcomings.
The existence of information from resources and soil and water use management at certain intervals is necessary to monitor the trend of changes, due to the interactions and vulnerability of soil and water in different land use management.
Operational goals of the program
• Determining the trend of changes in soil quality indicators of agricultural lands
• Determining the trend of changes in water quality indicators of agricultural lands
• Determining the impact of modern irrigation systems on soil quality
• Determining the severity of soil degradation in some critical plains of the country
• Monitoring the status of nutrients and pollutants (nitrates and heavy elements) in important horticultural and greenhouse crops
• Determining the extent of land use changes around metropolises of the country
